Complement for reception staff at Crown Medical Centre

I wanted to complement the reception staff at the Bromley Common Practice/ Southborough Lane Surgery.

I was sat in reception for only 10 minutes this morning while waiting for my appointment and was amazed how many people came to reception with unreasonable requests and complaints with an angry tone, despite lots of clear signage explaining how to get an appointment. The ladies at the desk handled them all extremely well and were calm and helpful. I’m in complete awe of them.

I hope my positive feedback can be passed on. I think they do an incredibly difficult job very well. I’m sure they don’t receive enough thanks from the public for what they do.

Public encouraged to update their contact details in pilot scheme

A pilot scheme is being run to improve the contact details held in the Personal Demographics Service (PDS) by identifying individuals who have missing or malformed email addresses or phone numbers and encouraging them to update this information.

These people will receive a text or email requesting they update their NHS account using the NHS App or NHS login. They could also receive a notification if their email or phone number does not match those recently used in other NHS services.

Enabling the public to update their own contact details in this way will further improve the information that we can provide to health care professionals, reducing the administrative burden for primary care. In the longer term this has the potential to provide more timely and cost-effective patient communications across the NHS.

As of the 1st April, the ‘Central Booking Service’ (for Termination of Pregnancy) will no longer be available. Please click here for more information

Southborough Lane Surgery ware currently facing an outbreak of Coronavirus and we have several members of our team off work.

We are doing whatever we can to organise cover from elsewhere but due to the workforce crisis in general practice this isn’t an easy task. As such, we are sadly in a position of having to cancel some appointments and prioritise booking patients in. Prescription processing and administrative tasks may also take longer than usual.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Infection prevention control guidelines to remain in place

The highest priority for the NHS remains the safety of staff, patients and visitors. While COVID restrictions will end in many settings in England from 19 July, everyone accessing or visiting healthcare settings must continue to wear a face covering(unless they are exempt)and follow social distancing rules. Public Health England’s infection prevention control guidelines and hospital visiting guidance are therefore set to remain in place for all staff and visitors and across all health services including hospitals, GP practices, dentists, optometrists and pharmacies to ensure patients and staff are protected. Read the infection prevention control guidance in full at:
